EKS Kubernetes 1.36 is available with user namespaces GA and mutating admission policies. Since July 2026 you can roll back an in-place control-plane upgrade within 7 days at no extra charge, but only N→N-1, and Fargate or strict PDBs can block you.
Manoj V.On July 23, 2026 AWS GA’d the Durable Execution SDK for .NET (Amazon.Lambda.DurableExecution). Score your C# workflows against our durable-vs-Step-Functions matrix. Most integration-heavy flows still belong in ASL.
Manoj V.On July 16, 2026 AWS removed the 30-day Standard residency gate for Standard-IA and One Zone-IA lifecycle transitions. Day-0 IA can cut first-month storage ~46% on 10 TB cold logs, but the 30-day IA billing minimum and $0.01/GB retrieval fees still apply.
Kevin W.Amazon Managed Grafana waste is rarely the $9 Editor seat itself. It comes from ten Editors who only view dashboards, orphan service accounts, and workspaces still on Grafana 9 while AWS shipped create and in-place upgrade support for 12.4 in April and May 2026. This is the workspace ops playbook: seats, IAM Identity Center, NAC/VPC, CMK, and a checklist you can run this week.
Manoj V.On 2026-07-16 AWS put PostgreSQL 19 Beta 2 in RDS Preview. Our first-party REPACK CONCURRENTLY run cut an 873 MB bloated table to 429 MB in 4.5s with 60/60 concurrent SELECTs succeeding.
Palaniappan PAfter Cognito multi-Region replication (June 2026), a B2B API platform (~18k RPS peak) cut auth-related 5xx during a regional drill from 4.2% to 0.1%, but a missing WAF rate rule still let a scraper burn $1.8k in a weekend.
Nash OgdenFor an on-prem MySQL estate (~1.1 TB, 340 tables), DMS full load + CDC into Aurora MySQL cut planned downtime from 6h to 18 min, though LOB misconfiguration added 11 hours of rework before cutover.
Palaniappan PFor a mid-market retailer (~2.4M SKUs, checkout p95 1.9s → 420ms), DynamoDB cart + Step Functions checkout + conditional inventory cuts held 2.1k checkout RPS, after a cache-as-inventory mistake oversold 380 units in 12 minutes.
Palaniappan PFor a retailer DW exit (~42 TB logical, 18 nightly Glue jobs), Aurora→Redshift zero-ETL retired 11 jobs and cut dashboard freshness from 6h to ~15 min. Concurrency scaling on zero-ETL (March 2026) absorbed Monday open spikes.
Palaniappan PFor a .NET monolith (~220 endpoints, ~$28k/mo EC2), strangling 14 endpoints to Lambda cut p95 on those routes from 1.4s to 210ms. An early LMI move on spiky traffic wasted ~$3.2k in idle capacity provider hours.
Palaniappan PA 280-user SaaS ops team cut Client VPN connection-hours ~62% after moving 34 HTTPS apps to Verified Access. Site-to-Site on TGW stayed for the colo; full-tunnel Client VPN had been burning ~$1.1k/mo in idle connection fees.
Nash OgdenFebruary 2026 server-side tool execution via AgentCore Gateway + Responses API cut median tool-round-trip latency ~180 ms → ~95 ms on a 12-tool SaaS CRM assistant by removing the client orchestration hop.
