On 9 Sep 2026 AWS raised LMI async and ESM timeout from 15 to 90 minutes (5,400 s). A 90-minute SQS consumer needs at least 9 hours of visibility. Sync and classic on-demand Lambda stay at 15 minutes.
AWS Blocks (public preview, June 2026): 18+ open-source TypeScript building blocks that run locally without an AWS account and deploy with zero code changes.
Palaniappan PStandard SQS queues sustain nearly unlimited throughput per queue (AWS-documented pattern) while FIFO caps at 300 TPS per API batch without high-throughput mode. Your May 2026 architecture review should start from those numbers.
Palaniappan PAs of May 8, 2026, Lambda bills INIT time on cold paths (pricing change live since Aug 1, 2025), API Gateway REST integrations time out at 29 seconds, and picking ALB vs NLB still determines whether TLS termination and routing live on the edge.
Palaniappan POn May 6, 2026, AWS made its managed MCP server generally available in 2 regions, with IAM guardrails, CloudWatch metrics, and CloudTrail logging, while the March 25, 2026 Agent Plugin for AWS Serverless brought packaged SAM/CDK skills into Cursor and Claude Code.
Palaniappan PA guide to microservices patterns on AWS: what to use, what to skip, and what changed in 2026 (App Mesh EOL, VPC Lattice, Powertools idempotency, Step Functions sagas).
Palaniappan PAs of July 2026, Lambda S3 Files still mounts S3 as POSIX via NFS, at roughly S3 Standard storage rates vs EFS for large files. Versioning is required, IAM is s3files:*, capacity providers are incompatible, and a ~60s write-back window breaks naive ports.
Manoj V.Kinesis Data Streams combined with Lambda and DynamoDB is the simplest path to a real-time data pipeline on AWS. This post covers the architecture, code patterns, and operational guidance.
